Aubrey Beardsley; Henry Harland et al: 'The Yellow Book: An Illustrated Quarterly [Complete in 13 Vols.]', London, Elkin Mathews & John Lane, 1894-1897, 13 volumes [all published], title page vignettes, 220 plates, plus ills. and decorations complete, by Aubrey Beardsley, Walter Sickert, Robert Anning Bell, Laurence Housman, Walter Crane, Max Beerbohm, Katharine Cameron, John Singer Sargent, William Rothenstein, Frederic Leighton and others, later issue, without advertisements at the back, literary contributions by Henry James, William Butler Yeats, HG Wells, Max Beerbohm, Kenneth Grahame, George Gissing, Edmund Gosse and others, also notable for the inclusion of work by women writers and illustrators, among them George Egerton (Mary Chavelita Dunn), Charlotte Mew, Rosamund Marriott Watson, Ada Leverson, Ethel Reed, Mabel Syrett, and Nellie Syrett, small 4to (20 x 16cm), uniform original pictorial yellow cloth blocked in black, cover designs by Aubrey Beardsley (Vols. 1-4), Ethel Reed, and Mabel Syrett, with duplicate copies of volume III, October 1894, and volume VII, October 1895, these both first issue copies with adverts at end, original pictorial yellow cloth blocked in black. A complete set of The Yellow Book, the decade-defining illustrated quarterly that captured the spirit of decadence and aestheticism and gave its name to 'the yellow nineties'. (15)
