(Africa, Middle East, British Colonies, Congo, Sierra Leone, Egypt) A collection of approximately 280 diapositive glass Magic Lantern slides relating to various scenes and people of Africa from the late 19th to mid 20th Century, mostly images of tribes and native life but other examples include trophy hunts of elephants, zebras, hippopotamus, "A Royal Niger Company's political agent and his family" shown in Up The Niger by A. F. Mockler-Ferryman, Victoria Falls on the Zambezi River, Kalambo Falls, The Pyramids, Elizabethville (now Lubumbashi) Station and Hotel, Baalbeck, Nile River dahabeah boats, engravings including "Expedition Winding Up The Gorge of Karya-Muhoro" from In Darkest Africa, maps of African regions, displays of native weapons/tools, engraving of a portrait of Msiri ruler of Katanga c.1830-91, etc.
Some slides are labelled / have written descriptions, and many have the Newton & Co. label. Also with seven related glass negatives.
