A 19th Century British Fighting Lamp by G. Polkey, C&M, Birmingham, 1898, having a swing handle with wooden sleeve, perforated ventilation plates at top and base edges (with valves to prevent the lamp from being extinguished by gunfire concussion), bevelled glass panels on three sides (one missing), rear door with attached reflector, original burner; the square form was developed to fit wall brackets in British military facilities.
