A folder compiled by John Humphreys (1939-2012), sporting and countryside author, relating to a punt gun he built, titled/inscribed by John Humphreys to front cover "Gunning Punt - Built by me in Autumn 1966. Inspired by Colin Willocks' book "The Gun Punt Adventure". John Humphreys.", folder containing two Typed Letters Signed from Colin Willock to John Humphreys, content re designing/building punt gun including suggestions of books with good information for appropriate measurements etc, dated 20th April 1966 and 25th April 1967, both on Anglia Television headed paper, plus approx. 16 pages of manuscript pencil and pen & ink drawings of the punt gun, measurements, lists of some features, cost of materials etc, plus a quantity of invoices for various materials, black & white photograph mounted on cover of folder depicting John Humphreys out on water rowing his punt with his dog; together with a 64 page manuscript memoir by Ernie James of Welney (1906-2005), one of the last (some said the last) of the legendary "Fen Tigers" - the elite breed of men who scratched a seasonal living on the Fens of East Anglia, housed in postally used envelope dated 1990 with inscription by James "All memories are wrote in here. To my friend John Humphreys".

From the estate of John Humphreys (1939-2012), distinguished sporting and countryside author who wrote for Shooting Times for more than 40 years – for much of that time contributing the weekly ‘Country Gun’ column. He was a much loved character of the shooting community who dedicated his life to the promotion of shooting, fishing and the countryside.
