Enid Blyton, 'The Adventure Series', complete set of the eight children's mystery novels, all 1st editions, 1st impressions, all published London, Macmillan, all in original pictorial cloth, all with line illustrations and in dust wrappers by Stuart Tresilian, comprising 'The Island of Adventure', 1944, 'The Castle of Adventure', 1946, 'The Valley of Adventure', 1947, 'The Sea of Adventure', 1948, 'The Mountain of Adventure', 1949, 'The Ship of Adventure', 1950, 'The Circus of Adventure', 1952, 'The River of Adventure'. Internally none with previous owner names or inscriptions, all with leaves clean/VGC, all with pictorial cloth VGC/near fine comensurate with age. 'Island' internally leaves very clean, no foxing, dust wrapper with some very small areas of professional restoration, 7s 6d price neatly reattached, some light foxing/toning; 'Castle' internally leaves very clean, no foxing, d/w some small areas of professional restoration, some very light foxing, price intact; 'Valley' leaves clean/VGC, d/w very slightly worn at extremities, minimal foxing, price intact; 'Sea' v. light foxing FFEP, else leaves clean/VGC, d/w a couple of very small part losses area at head and foot of spine, three small closed tears head/feet spine edges neatly repaired verso, without foxing, price intact; 'Mountain' light foxing FFEP, half title, RFEP, else leaves clean/VGC, d/w some neat small repairs verso and v. small part losses, without foxing, price intact; 'Ship' slight toning part of FFEP RFEP, else internally leaves clean without foxing, d/w closed tears rear panel and between rear panel and inside rear flap with neat internal repairs, two very small areas of neat professional restoration at head of spine, some very light foxing to inside flaps, price intact; 'Circus' v. light toning part of FFEP and RFEP, else leaves internally clean/VGC, d/w small number very small chips/part losses at extremities, free from foxing, price intact; 'River' slight toning part of FFEP and RFEP, else internally leaves clean without foxing, d/w head of spine a couple of very small closed tears, some foxing/toning. Scarce complete first edition set in dust wrappers in very attractive and collectable condition, difficult to find as such (8)
