THOMAS PACE OF WHITECHAPEL, LONDON (act. in Whitechapel 1784-1825): A late 18th / early 19th Century arch-top bracket clock striking on a bell, convex painted dial with Roman numerals, pierced metal hands, mahogany case inlaid with brass fleur de lys, column corners, raised on bun feet, pierced brass side frets. The twin fusee movement with recoil escapement and rack/snail strike, hammer a/f and loose from movement. With key and pendulum. For renovation, glass cracked to back door. 41cm high x 30cm wide x 16cm deep.
Thomas Pace of London is recorded in Baillies' 'Watchmakers and Clockmakers of The World' book as working from 1784-1825 in Whitechapel. A watch by Thomas Pace is noted in the Guildhall Museum.
