(Twelve by Eight Press.) J.G. Lubbock: 'Reflections from the Sea', Leicester, The Twelve By Eight Press, 1971, limited edition, number 3 of 85 copies only, numbered and signed by J.G. Lubbock and John Mason, 11 engraved, etched and aquatint plates printed in colours with some finished by hand by Lubbock as called for (of which 6 double page and 5 single page, all tissue guarded), typography and printing of the text by Will and Sebastian Carter at the Rampant Lions Press at Cambridge, printed note on paper used for the endpapers by John Mason mounted on front pastedown, 4to (34 x 26cm), original blue morocco with design of swallow flying above a breaking wave in gilt on front cover by George Percival at Leicester, top edge gilt, others uncut, acetate dust wrapper, original matching morocco and marbled paper covered slip-case. Joseph Guy Lubbock (1915-1929) moved to Suffolk in 1963, around the time he turned his full attention to painting and writing. His work drew on the beauty of the Suffolk landscape of his home near Woodbridge: the river, reed beds and marshes, the shingle banks and beaches. His travels to the remoter parts of the world, including the Himalayas, the Galapagos Islands and the Antarctic, were also a great influence on his work
