PIETER VAN DEN BERGH, ROTTERDAM: An 18th Century Dutch silver pair cased pocket watch. The outer case with decorative scrolled engraving throughout, the silver sun and moon dial with pierced blued steel hands and Roman/Arabic chapter rings and date apertures, signed P.V. Den Bergh. Chain fusee movement with tapered column pillars and verge escapement. Unusual silver balance cock with embossed image of a cherub with sickle sitting by a tree, above a false pendulum bob running along the terminal coil of the balance spring, backplate signed P.V. Den Bergh, Rotterdam, 5.5cm diameter. His known works include a longcase clock in the Rijksmuseum circa 1780
