A 16-bore brass-barrelled flintlock blunderbuss signed Crawforth, Newcastle, circa 1765, with octagonal to sixteen-sided to round 16" barrel with shallow flare to muzzle, moulded band at intersection, bead fore-sight, heavy carved and moulded band at breech with sighting notch, the top-flat signed "THOMAS CRAWFORTH OF NEWCASTLE", floral engraving to the forward and aft sections of the round portion with a central scroll engraved panel, borderlines engraved to the sixteen-sided section and further rubbed engraving to breech, plan iron top-tang, probable replacement plain lock of musket size from an earlier piece, swan-necked cock and unbridled frizzen, walnut handrail full-stock with broad brass heel-plate and long broad top-spur, iron lower tang and trigger guard bow with moulded acorn finial, brass ramrod pipe and plain wood ramrod ANTIQUE: No license required
