A late 19th Century lighthouse wall clock by Brockbank and Atkins of London, made for Anvil Point lighthouse, built by Trinity House in 1881; the 12 inch diameter clockface with black Roman numerals and subsidiary "revolutions of the light apparatus" dial on an engraved silvered plate, in a plain cushioned mahogany case.
With a pendulum (suspension spring broken) and winding key
Provenance: Acquired by the vendor from Trinity House, the General Lighthouse Authority for England, Wales, the Channel Isles & Gibraltar, after modernisation works at Anvil Point.
A similar example is held in the timekeeping collection at the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, London.
Case has previously been coated in black - some areas were missed or are fading.
Some pieces of a residue can be found in areas.
Wood is splitting around dial.
Only one peg to bind it together.
No major scratching to glass but some are found near the top.
Face is marked/scratched along numerals.
Wear around the winding key hole.
Some wear to numerals VII, VIII, IX.
Suspension spring on pendulum is broken.
Pendulum appears to fit but no guarantee it is the original
Starts moving after giving it a wind.
