MARILYN MONROE: A black and white publicity photgraph of the film star and sex symbol, bearing autograph "To Harold Best Wishes Marilyn Monroe", 12.5cm x 10.5cm. PROBABLY SECRETARIAL.
Provenance: From the life story of the vendor's grandfather, Jack, who was the brother of Harold and from whose estate this lot comes- "Harold bought a boat which occupied his time so he asked if I would also ride his horse for him. His was a big 17.2 hands horse which required a strong rider. I very much enjoyed riding it because it loved to jump and gallop around Black & Langley Parks. This was near where film crews were working on “Bond” movies at Pinewood Studios which are based at the edge of Black Park in Iver Park I had many cuppas and sarnies from the food wagon, and so started a long and happy time for me on horseback. I met many film stars whilst out and about and on one occasion had the pleasure of meeting Marilyn Monroe near the park where I was riding and so I asked her for an autograph for Harold." (R) £120
