£240
A 54 note Chiappa/Wintle automatic barrel piano. Coin-operated and probably originally built for, and owned by, Keith Prowse. This piano was bought with many others from Keith Prowse by the East Anglian Automatic Piano Company and thought to have been re-marked and pinned by Alec Todd, Canon Wintle's right-hand man.
Likely re-painted in white and gold by the East Anglian Automatic Piano Company, this piano features a part glass-front panel with simple incised decoration and shaped pediment with the original tune-sheet.
This piano was purchased by Milly and Colin Williams from Bournemouth, and still has the same tunes that Alec Todd marked and perhaps pinned. As an automatic piano, one (old) penny inserted into the coin slot resulted in two plays of the same tune or, if you were quick enough to change the tune by turning the tune change handle, two different tunes...
