Charles Darwin: 'The Movements and Habits of Climbing Plants', London, John Murray, 1875, 2nd edition, revised (but 1st edition in book form), half title, viii,208pp + 32pp publisher's catalogue of adverts at end dated January 1875, original publisher's blindstamped green cloth gilt, armorial bookplate to front pastedown of Jeremiah James Colman (1830-1898), Norwich philanthropist, liberal politician, and the third member of the family in charge of the eponymous mustard manufacturing company Colman's.
This first appeared in volume 9 of the 'Journal of the Proceedings of the Linnean Society of London' in 1865, and was also printed as a pamphlet and offprint in the same year. This being the first published edition in hard covers. Darwin corrected the text and added new material for this expanded edition. 1,500 copies were printed.
