Lodge and Clemence Housman, oblong 8vo (14.5 x 18cm), original quarter cloth over patterned paper covered boards. Washington Herbert Broome was a notable figure in the arts and crafts movement in the late 19th/early 20th Century. Broome worked with William Morris at the Kelmscott Press before establishing The Old Bourne Press with James Guthrie in 1902 at Holborn. In 1907 Broome built the Arts and Crafts house "Avalon" in Bushey, which is now a listed historic building. His daughter Myrtle Broome created painted panels and decorations throughout the house. She is also mentioned as being a designer and a craft worker, who designed for Liberty, and was an Egyptologist and artist
