Gobels, Amsterdam, verge escapement and chain fusee drive, backplate appears to be signed I J Gobels, Amsterdam (the J may be hidden by a fastening), ornate finely engraved figural pillars, 6cm diameter. Jan Gobels was active in the 18th Century but little information exists.
After winding a few times on fusee power is reaching escapement. Appears to have not been serviced for a long time. No obvious repairs / replacements but not ruled out. Chain fusee mechanism appears to be complete and functional. No hallmarks present.
