Nevinson: 'Modern War Paintings', London: Grant Richards, 1917, 1st edition, colour frontis "Column on the March" signed by Nevinson in pencil to margin beneath, 21 full page b/w illustrations, all reproductions of Nevinson's paintings, small 'Times Book Club' label to lower rear pastedown along with date stamp, '6 Mar 1917', 79pp, 4to., publisher's quarter green cloth over paper covered boards, printed title labels to upper cover and spine, worn copy. Nevinson's work provided some of the most iconic images of WWI. His depiction of machine gunners in "La Mitrailleuse" being described by Walter Sickert as 'the most authoritative and concentrated utterance on the war in the history of painting'.
