Samuel Johnson: 'The Works of the English Poets, from Chaucer to Cowper', London, J. Johnson et al, 1810, 21 volume set, uniform contemporary handsome full tan morocco gilt, all edges marbled, armorial bookplates to front pastedowns, Holly Lodge Library, of Harriet Beauclerk, Duchess of St Albans (née Mellon, 1777-1837), Irish banker and actress who eventually starred at Drury Lane. She was successively the wife of banker Thomas Coutts and then of William Beauclerk, 9th Duke of St Albans. She was widely celebrated for her beauty, and she was painted by George Romney and Sir Thomas Lawrence. (21) (C)
